The Volvo EX90 lineup is being reshuffled for 2027, bringing a significantly more affordable base variant to the local large electric SUV range.
According to industry pricing guide Redbook, the model year 2027 (MY27) EX90 lineup will now open with a Plus Single Motor variant, priced at $106,990 before on-road costs and due in showrooms September/October.
This replaces the MY26 EX90 Plus Twin Motor AWD, which is priced at $124,990 plus on-roads.
The Ultra Twin Motor Performance is set to continue with an unchanged price of $134,990 plus on-roads, though Redbook lists it as gaining standard Nappa leather upholstery.

With the base Plus moving to a single-motor rear-wheel drive electric powertrain, outputs drop from 330kW of power and 670Nm of torque to 245kW and 480Nm, and the claimed 0-100km/h sprint time is longer at 6.8 seconds versus 5.5 seconds.
The outgoing Plus Twin Motor uses a 106kWh nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) battery offering 521km of range on the WLTP cycle, with the Plus Single Motor moving to a smaller 92kWh pack with 479km of WLTP range.
Like the Plus Twin Motor, the Plus Single Motor can be charged at up to 11kW on AC power. No maximum DC fast-charge rate is listed, though the Plus Twin Motor can be charged at up to 250kW.
Beyond the different battery and electric powertrain, there are no other specification changes according to Redbook.
The EX90 Plus comes standard with a 9.0-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Google Built-in and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Other standard equipment includes a 14-speaker Bose sound system, four-zone climate control, heated front and second-row seats, a heated steering wheel, power-adjustable front seats with driver memory, 20-inch alloy wheels, a panoramic fixed-glass roof and a power tailgate.
For features like adaptive air suspension and ventilated and massaging front seats, you need to step up to the Ultra.
The move to the Plus Single Motor allows Volvo to undercut the rival Cadillac Vistiq, which is priced at $116,000 plus on-roads and set to commence local deliveries in the fourth quarter (October to December) of this year.
However, the Vistiq is offered only in a loaded Platinum trim with a standard dual-motor all-wheel drive powertrain.
It offers 461km of WLTP range from a 91kWh nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) battery, and supports three-phase AC charging at up to 22kW and DC fast-charging at up to 130kW.
As three-row electric SUVs, the EX90 and Vistiq have no other luxury-brand competition in Australia at the moment. However, Hyundai has its Ioniq 9 priced at $119,750 before on-roads, while Kia has its related EV9 range which is priced from $97,000 plus on-roads for the base rear-wheel drive Air to $129,250 plus ORCs for the flagship all-wheel drive GT.
The EX90 was revealed in November 2022 and entered production in May 2024, with Australian deliveries commencing in March 2025.
To the end of May, Volvo Car Australia has delivered 114 EX90s this year. While that’s just under half the tally of the similarly sized mild- and plug-in hybrid XC90, it’s more than the total tallies of the Ioniq 9 and EV9 combined (56 and 41).
