The 2027 Infiniti QX65 is an all-new, two-row, midsize luxury SUV. It features a sporty fastback profile inspired by the iconic FX and is a big step in Infiniti’s ongoing product renaissance to reinvigorate the brand. The addition of this new SUV brings the Infiniti lineup to three vehicles, including the QX60 and flagship QX80.

With striking design details such as the new Sunfire Red paint featuring real gold-coated glass flecks and a thoughtfully crafted interior, the QX65 delivers style, luxury, and comfort along with strong performance. The first production models are already rolling off the line in Smyrna, Tennessee and will be at dealerships early this summer.

The fastback silhouette gives it a sporty presence that helps it stand out in a crowded segment. Overall, it makes a strong first impression as a newcomer to the space.

10 Luxury SUVs That Aren’t As Expensive As You Think

Uncover 10 luxury SUVs that deliver elegance and performance without a sky-high price tag. Elevate your drive affordably.

The Infiniti QX65 delivered a true luxury car ride. It was smooth, even over rough surfaces, with a minimum of road and wind noise intruding into the cabin. It handled well on the highway with strong acceleration and made short work of winding country roads.

The engine has plenty of power, and it’s delivered well, for the most part, but it can get loud. Especially in Sport mode, it holds gears a bit too long resulting in an engine note that’s less sporty and more intrusive. We left it in Auto and found the issue far less noticeable,

Braking And Acceleration

Acceleration is strong with ample power to get up to highway speeds for effortless merges. A heavy foot on the gas delivers an extra burst of speed for passing slower highway traffic. This is a confident and responsive vehicle. The QX65 looks sporty, and that’s how it drives, but with a healthy dose of luxury refinement, so the experience is never harsh.

Braking is solid. The QX65 comes to a well-controlled stop in panic braking. On winding roads, the brakes were easy to modulate coming in and out of corners, so the ride stayed easy and relaxed for driver and passengers alike.

Infiniti QX65 Fuel Economy

The QX65 gets fuel economy of 20 mpg city, 26 mpg highway, and 22 mpg combined. For an AWD, midsize, luxury SUV with a turbocharged engine and 6,000-pound towing capacity, these figures are solid and right in line with expectations for the class. They match the closely related QX60 and compare favorably to many traditional gas-powered rivals such as the Acura MDX and BMW X5, though they fall short of hybrid models from Lexus and others that can reach the mid- to high-30s mpg combined.

The interior of the QX65 feels every bit like a luxury vehicle with rich materials, quilted leather, and soft touch surfaces throughout that give the cabin a premium feel. The technology is well-integrated and intuitive with a good blend of physical buttons and touchscreen controls that are easy to reach without being distracting. Wireless charging worked reliably and the tri-zone climate control kept the cabin comfortable.

10 Luxury SUVs That Perfectly Blend Style And Speed

These quick and sophisticated compact SUVs mean transport and practicality have never looked so appealing, making the daily grind more fun.

The 60/40-split second-row bench slides, reclines, and offers good legroom and support, making it suitable for adults on longer trips. Headroom is good despite the fastback roof line, though taller passengers may notice the sloping ceiling. Outward visibility is solid thanks to the large windows and available camera systems that help eliminate blind spots.

Technology And Ease Of Use

There are dual 12.3-inch displays that look sharp with clear graphics and smooth animations. The infotainment system is highly responsive with no noticeable lag, and the Google built-in interface feels intuitive and easy to navigate. I had no trouble connecting my phone wirelessly to Apple CarPlay. The wireless charging pad with its built-in cooling fan kept my phone charged efficiently without overheating, which is a nice, practical touch.

Overall, the technology strikes an excellent balance between touchscreen convenience and physical controls so it’s not frustrating or distracting. The voice recognition with natural language understanding is easy to use. It’s a polished and distraction-free experience that should hold up well over time.

Cargo And Storage Space

Cargo capacity is 35.8 cubic feet behind the second row and 67.7 cubic feet when the rear seats are folded. The power lift gate and a relatively low load height make it easy to stow cargo. A button release in the cargo area folds the rear seats, creating a mostly flat load floor that makes it easy to slide in larger items. Expanding and reducing cargo space is simple and intuitive with the 60/40-split bench that slides and reclines. Additional storage is generous with eight cupholders, six bottle holders, overhead sunglass storage, and multiple door pockets that provide plenty of places for everyday items.

Our Recommendation For Which Model You Should Buy

I recommend the Luxe trim for most buyers. Starting at $53,990, it delivers a refined luxury experience with rich materials, comfortable quilted leather seats, a remarkably quiet cabin, and intuitive technology that performed very well during my test drive. The step-up to Sport or Autograph trims adds premium audio, more aggressive styling, and exclusive features like seat massage, but these come at a noticeably higher price. Unless you specifically want the highest end materials and audio system, the Luxe offers the strongest combination of value and luxury in the lineup.
