Chery is recalling its Tiggo 8 large SUV to fix a fault that may hamper its braking performance.
“Due to a manufacturing defect, the brake pipe may chafe against the engine and become damaged,” the company says in its recall notice.
“This could lead to a brake fluid leak resulting in reduced braking performance.
“A reduction in braking performance could increase the risk of an accident, causing injury or death to vehicle occupants and other road users.”

- A total of 5556 vehicles are affected, produced between 2023 and 2026

If you own an affected vehicle, you’ll need to schedule an appointment with an authorised Chery dealer to have it inspected and repaired, free of charge.

This is the third recall from the Chery brand following its 2023 relaunch in Australia.
In February 2024, it recalled 5901 Omoda 5 small SUVs, also for a defect that could lead to a brake fluid leak, followed by a recall of 1923 Tiggo 4 light SUVs later that year due to a software fault that could prevent an alert sound from playing.
