Tesla Australia has confirmed it’s in the final stages of local development and testing of Full Self-Driving (FSD) v14 software for owners of Hardware 4 (HW4)-equipped vehicles, including the current Model Y – Australia’s best-selling vehicle in May 2026.
Tesla sent an update to Australian owners outlining progress on the software, after the latest version was rolled out in North America.
“FSD (Supervised) v14 for Hardware 4 vehicles is in its final stages of local development and testing,” the Tesla Australia customer email said.
“This release represents a meaningful step forward in performance and capability, and we want to ensure your experience reflects that from the moment it’s available on your vehicle.”

Tesla Australia hasn’t confirmed a launch date, telling CarExpert the communication was intended to keep customers informed about the progress of the v14 software.
In the US and Canada, FSD (Supervised) v14.3.3 is now rolling out after delays to Tesla’s original mid-2025 timeline. The v14 family first launched with v14.1 in October 2025, before v14.2 entered broader testing the following month.
With v14.3.3 first released in North America in April 2026, some owners reported waiting several months before the software became available on their vehicles.
According to Teslarati, Tesla CEO Elon Musk said v14.3 “is where the last big piece of the puzzle lands”, with the update intended to deliver faster and more logical decision-making.
Release notes for v14.3.3 state the update brings an “improved driver monitoring system sensitivity with better eye gaze tracking, eyewear handling, and higher accuracy in variable lighting conditions”.
It also includes an “upgraded Reinforcement Learning (RL) stage of training the FSD neural network, resulting in improvements in a wide variety of driving situations”.
Tesla says an upgraded neural network vision encoder has “strengthened the 3D geometry understanding” and traffic sign recognition capabilities, while the AI compiler has been rewritten.
Other changes include voice activation for Grok artificial intelligence (AI), allowing occupants to say “Hey Grok”, where previously a button press was required.
Tesla launched FSD (Supervised) in Australia in September 2025 for Model Y and Model 3 vehicles equipped with HW4 cameras. Initially priced at $10,100, FSD switched to a $149-per-month subscription model earlier this year.
After a global slowdown in 2025 that affected sales locally, Tesla Australia posted record sales in May 2026.
The success saw the Model Y become the first electric vehicle (EV) to top Australia’s monthly sales charts, beating the Ford Ranger to the number one spot.
