The Omoda 7 is due to arrive in Australia later this year, and it could include an unusual new feature.
Set for launch during the second half of 2026, the Omoda 7 will slot into the Omoda Jaecoo lineup as a second mid-size SUV offering and its second Omoda-badged model.
It slots in under the Omoda 9 large SUV launched here last year, and above the Omoda 4 small SUV due here during the first quarter (January to March) of 2027.

Local pricing and specifications have yet to be announced, but the Omoda 7 has been detailed for the (also right-hand drive) UK market, where it’ll be offered with a new and unusual gimmick.
Offered in the UK only in flagship SHS-P Noble Tech form is a 15.6-inch infotainment touchscreen that can slide from the middle of the dashboard to the passenger’s side of the cabin.
The screen, which has a 2.5K resolution display and measures just 12.7mm thick, slides across to allow passengers to more easily control functions such as music, climate and navigation.
There have been infotainment screens over the years that rise out of a dashboard (Audi, Cadillac), tilt (Mercedes-Benz), or rotate (BYD), and the Zeekr X also offers a sliding function in China. And fixed passenger-side touchscreens are now becoming common at the top end of the market.
However, should this feature be offered in the Omoda 7 here, it’ll be the first time a sliding screen has been available in a vehicle sold in Australia.
Lesser Omoda 7s still have a 15.6-inch screen, just without the sliding functionality.
The UK-market Noble Tech also features Remote Parking Assistance, allowing the driver to control the vehicle’s parking manoeuvres from outside of it using the key fob – technology similar to the Remote Smart Parking Assist found in certain Hyundai, Kia and Genesis models.
This system can handle parallel, perpendicular and angled parking spaces.
Other standard features for the Noble Tech and the Noble that’s one rung down include an in-car fragrance system, panoramic sunroof, 12-speaker Sony sound system, and six-way power-adjustable front seats with heating and ventilation.
Plug-in hybrid (PHEV) versions of the Omoda 7 made a turbocharged 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine with an 18.3kWh battery for total system outputs of 205kW of power and 365Nm of torque. Claimed electric range is 92km on the WLTP cycle.
The Noble Tech is priced at £35,505 (~A$66,300) before on-road costs in the UK, slotting in under the Omoda 9 PHEV priced at £44,995 (~A$83,990).
While UK buyers pay significantly more for their vehicles, the Omoda 9 is priced at $61,990 before on-roads in Australia. If the top-spec Omoda 7 PHEV is 27 per cent cheaper than the Omoda 9 in Australia, as it is in the UK, that points to a price tag of around $45,000.
Omoda Jaecoo already offers a plug-in hybrid mid-size SUV in Australia: the Jaecoo J7 SHS, which is currently being offered from between $40,990 and $44,990 drive-away.
This also features a turbocharged 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol plug-in hybrid powertrain, mating a 105kW/215Nm engine with a 150kW/310Nm electric motor and an 18.3kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery.
Electric range is 90km on the WLTP cycle.
