The Jaecoo J5 is gaining more affordable petrol-powered variants in Australia, after customer deliveries commenced for its electric counterpart earlier this year.

Petrol-powered versions of the small SUV, which are due in showrooms in June 2026, use a turbocharged 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine producing 108kW of power and 210Nm of torque, mated with a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT). Claimed fuel consumption is 7.5L/100km.

Though not marketed as a premium brand, Omoda Jaecoo has been referred to as being a “step up” from parent Chery’s namesake brand here.

Despite this, the base Jaecoo J5 Track is priced at $25,990 drive-away. That makes it one of the most affordable small SUVs in Australia, though it’s still $2000 more than the most affordable Chery Tiggo 4.
