Details of the Australia-bound Geely EX2 electric hatchback have been uncovered for the first time in government filings, ahead of its scheduled launch in the coming months.

Set to launch here in the third quarter (July-September) of 2026, government filings have revealed key details of the EX2 ahead of official pricing and specification announcements from Geely.

The EX2 will join the electric EX5 and plug-in hybrid Starray EM-i mid-size SUVs already in Geely Australia showrooms, with all three underpinned by the same Global Intelligent Electric Architecture (GEA).

It will be the first of six new Geely models planned for Australia by 2028 after the brand launched locally in March 2025.

The five-door EX2 electric vehicle (EV) – China’s best-selling vehicle outright last year with 465,775 sales – is expected to cost around $30,000 and take on the BYD Dolphin and new MG 4 EV Urban electric hatchbacks.

The filings show the entry-level EX2 will use a 60kW single electric motor driving the rear wheels, while the rest of the lineup will be fitted with a more powerful 85kW version. All models will be rear-wheel drive.

This appears to match the powertrains offered in Chinese-market models.

Although battery sizes haven’t been specified for Australia, a 58kW/110Nm version sold in China is fitted with a 30.12kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery with a claimed driving range of 310km (CLTC).
