The new-generation Hyundai Palisade is being recalled to fix an issue with one of its rearmost seatbelts.

“Due to improper assembly, the internal wiring harness of the third-row left seatbelt buckles may become damaged. As a result, it could prevent the vehicle from detecting whether the seatbelt is properly latched,” Hyundai Australia says in its recall notice.

“In the event of an accident, sudden or unexpected braking, if the seatbelt is not correctly latched it will increase the risk of injury or death to vehicle occupants.”

Hyundai Australia warns passengers to exercise caution when securing third-row seatbelts.

“Ensure the seatbelt tongue is fully inserted and secured in the buckle,” it advises.
