Toyota is preparing dealerships across North America for shortages of motor oil used to service its cars.

Oil supply disruptions caused by the conflict in Iran have led to the shortfall, with The Drive reporting several major auto parts stores also being affected.

CarExpert understands a dealer bulletin issued to service centres across the US and Canada on April 30 has provided advice on alternative oil weights suitable for use in modern Toyota models.

According to an insider, the dealer bulletin provides guidance on suitable alternatives if mechanics are unable to source 0W-8 and 0W-16.

While inventories have been affected globally, it appears the situation hasn’t hit Australian dealerships to the same extent as it has in North America.

“There is no supply issue at this stage, but we are closely monitoring the situation,” a spokesperson for Toyota Australia told CarExpert this week.
