The Ford Mustang Dark Horsewill return to Australian showrooms with a Supercars tie-up involving Triple Eight Race Engineering, which runs the Red Bull Ampol Racing team.

Ford Australia has confirmed 500 Dark Horse coupes priced from $104,990 before on-road costs, alongside 250 examples fitted with the ‘T8-Spec Pack’ priced at $138,888 before on-roads.

The T8-Spec Pack will be fitted locally at Ford Australia’s Broadmeadows Plant 2 facility in Melbourne – the same site that produced the 2019 Mustang R-Spec and part of Ford’s former manufacturing operations which ended in 2016.

Order books are now open, with first deliveries due in the fourth quarter of 2026 (October to December).

“By partnering with Triple Eight Race Engineering, we’ve created a vehicle that not only celebrates our racing heritage but offers our most passionate enthusiast customers a globally unique, bespoke numbered collector’s item vehicle, upfit right here in Melbourne,” said Ford Australia marketing director Ambrose Henderson.

The original Mustang Dark Horse launched in Australia in 2023, priced from $99,102 before on-road costs for the manual and $103,002 for the automatic.

That compares to the current Mustang GT, which starts from $84,990 before on-road costs.

For 2026, the Dark Horse continues with the naturally aspirated 5.0-litre ‘Coyote’ V8 producing 350kW of power and 550Nm of torque.
