While Lexus plans to introduce the gas-hybrid variants of the redesigned ES to the North American market before the end of 2026, they did us a solid and delivered the BEV versions for us to enjoy right now. The 2026 Lexus ES EV is expected to arrive at dealerships with a starting price of $47,500—just under the national average for new cars. For that price, buyers get the base model 350e, a FWD EV that is as impressive as it is gorgeous.

When referring to it being impressive, we consider its style and tech upgrades, as well as its powertrain abilities. First, it allows a more streamlined approach to model variation, which saves on production costs and allows Lexus to offer the 2026 ES at a reasonable price. Second, it gives the ES more stability in terms of quality control, as many of the basic structural assets are shared between the variants.

This is largely similar to the previous-gen’s approach, utilizing the TNGA-K platform that’s shared across multiple models to keep quality in line. In fact, the Multi-Pathway platform is an evolution of the TNGA-K platform itself, being adapted to support both gas-hybrid and BEV powertrains. This means you won’t necessarily be dealing with an all-new platform that needs ironing out. That said, reliability for the 2026 ES remains to be seen, though if it’s anything like the outgoing seventh-gen model’s, it’ll likely outlast many of its contemporaries, while keeping maintenance costs in check.
