Electric brand Zeekr has outsold fellow Geely-owned brand Volvo in Australia for the first time after the arrival of the 7X SUV – a Tesla Model Y rival – in local showrooms.
November sales figures show Zeekr, which has been on sale here less than 12 months, delivered 727 vehicles compared to Volvo’s 629 – the first time it has eclipsed its sister brand.
Led by the 7X SUV on 682 sales, which made its debut appearance in November on VFACTS industry sales reports, it’s more than triple Zeekr’s best monthly result of 216 in October 2025 and is only 20 sales short of Volvo Australia’s best monthly result this year of 747 in September.

Volvo remains well ahead year-to-date, delivering 6736 vehicles this year to the end of November; Zeekr is sitting at 1673. Fellow Geely-owned premium brands Polestar and Lotus have delivered 2189 and 60 vehicles, respectively.
Nevertheless, Zeekr’s impressive November was enough to see the 7X lead the Medium SUVs over $60,000 segment in VFACTS, besting the likes of the Audi Q5, BMW X3, Lexus NX and Mercedes-Benz GLC.
Tesla, which reports its sales to the Electric Vehicle Council instead, still outsold them all, delivering 2269 Model Ys.
Volvo – which has a history dating back to 1927 – is majority-owned by Geely, which also owns Zeekr.
Zeekr was formed in 2021 and has a design centre in Gothenburg, Sweden, where Volvo is headquartered. It officially launched here at the end of 2024 with the X small luxury SUV and 009 people mover.
Its highest monthly sales thus far were in September with 120 Zeekrs reaching customers that month.
October 2025 saw the official launch of the 7X, the brand’s Tesla Model Y-rivalling SUV launched with aggressive pricing of $57,900 before on-road costs, $1000 below the cheapest Model Y.
Zeekr Australia claimed 2500 pre-orders for the 7X ahead of mid-October deliveries and told CarExpert it was working in additional stock to ensure 7X customers here would receive their vehicle before the end of 2025.
The Australian arm had pulled back on its previously stated goal of 3000 sales in 2025, but Zeekr Australia managing director Frank Li said the high number of pre-orders for the 7X meant achieving the figure was back on the cards.
This would still require some serious sales in December – 1327 in fact, with a year-to-date total of 1673 to the end of November.
The 7X was launched in three model grades, all using an 800V electrical architecture, with the single-motor rear-wheel drive base model making 310kW/440Nm with a 75kWh lithium-iron phosphate battery and 480km (WLTP) of claimed range.
A mid-spec 7X Long Range – at $63,900 before on-roads – uses a larger 100kWh nickel-manganese cobalt battery extending range to 615km with the same 0-100km/h claim of 6.0 seconds.
The flagship 7X Performance AWD flagship, priced at $72,900 before on-roads, adds a second motor for 475kW/710Nm outputs, with 543km of range and a 0-100km/h time of 3.8 seconds.
In addition to the 7X, Zeekr Australia announced a second, more affordable version of its 009 people mover last month, priced at $115,900 before on-road costs.
While not expected to add significant volume, it will enter an increasingly competitive segment including the Denza D9 – confirmed by parent company BYD for an Australian launch in 2026 – and the LDV MIFA 9.
