Honda Pilot
Best Interior Feature: Stowable Second-Row Seat
The 2026 Honda Pilot, available in an eight-seater configuration, is designed for long-distance road trips. It features comfort amenities such as a stowable second-row seat and optional second-row captain’s chairs. While the stowable seat is convenient, the captain’s chairs are certainly the more comfortable option, the longer the trip gets.
If you opt for the Honda Pilot‘s standard stowable second-row seats, they come equipped with a one-touch button located on the back of the seat, making access to the third row as easy as possible. Any of your passengers would be glad to experience the optional subwoofer-equipped Bose 12-speaker audio system. At a minimum, the standard tri-zone automatic climate control allows rear seat passengers to customize their cooling for those especially hot days. 14 cupholders are also available throughout the cabin, including eight specifically designed for larger 32-ounce water bottles.

Toyota Grand Highlander
Best Interior Feature: 13 Cup And Bottle Holders
The 2026 Toyota Grand Highlander is available in an eight-seat configuration, but it offers more maximum cargo space than the 2025 Honda Pilot at 97.5 cubic feet. The Toyota Grand Highlander also offers three-zone climate control with temperature control for the rear passengers, along with second and third-row vents.
Just like the Honda Pilot, the Toyota Grand Highlander offers seven-passenger seating when selected with optional second-row captain’s chairs. No matter the seating arrangement, large third-row windows make long trips more enjoyable and scenic. The 2025 Toyota Grand Highlander’s third row also offers 33.5 inches of legroom, which is not as much as the second-row but is still good. Does every person in your party have a drink or two on hand? Don’t forget about the 13 cup and bottle holders distributed across the cabin, with several of them being able to accommodate larger bottle sizes.

Hyundai Santa Fe
Best Interior Feature: Dual Wireless Device Charging
The 2026 Hyundai Santa Fe is another SUV built for extended weekend adventures. Seating is available for up to six with second-row captain’s chairs or seven with a third-row bench. By offering standard heated seating, power-adjustability, and power folding for the second-row captain’s chairs on the Calligraphy trim, the Santa Fe separates itself from the competition.
Another nice feature of the Hyundai Santa Fe is that the center console can be accessed from both front and back, available with class-exclusive dual wireless device charging on the Calligraphy trim. The Hyundai Santa Fe also offers third-row seats that provide 30 inches of legroom and include USB-C charging, A/C vent control, as well as a power outlet on both sides of the cabin. The Santa Fe may not be considered a luxury car, but it sure does feel like it on the inside. Our own Craig Cole had this to say about the Hyundai SUV’s interior comfort:
Even this Hyundai’s third row impresses, a rarity for a vehicle of this class. Adults can access this space relatively easily, and once seated, they will be well cared for. Yes, the bottom cushion is a bit low to the floor, but the seats themselves are comfortable and there’s a surprising amount of legroom and headroom, enough for six-foot-tall passengers, in fact.

Kia Telluride
Best Interior Feature: Second-Row Legroom
The 2025 Kia Telluride is another mid-sized three-row SUV that offers impressive comfort across long distances with seating for eight passengers. The Kia Telluride offers class-leading second-row legroom, along with Nappa leather heated and ventilated first and secon-row captain’s chairs in SX Prestige trim.
Soak in the sun with optional dual sunroofs or stay connected with the standard 12-volt cabin power outlet. A 110-volt power inverter is found on the upper trims of the Kia Telluride, such as the EX X-Line AWD or SX Prestige X-Pro AWD. Five standard USB-C charging ports are also found across all three rows to ensure you never run out of juice, even across longer trips.

Chevrolet Suburban
Best Interior Feature: Best-In-Class Cargo Space
If you are looking for the roomiest SUV on the market, the 2026 Chevrolet Suburban should do the trick. The Suburban’s massive size means that it offers almost double the average maximum cargo space of most SUVs. Your passengers won’t see it, but Magnetic Ride Control and Four-Corner Air Ride Adaptive Suspension mean that they will feel like they are floating on a cloud even on the longest of journeys.
Though refreshed for the 2025 model year, the Chevrolet Suburban still excels in comfort because of its tried-and-true formula of cutting no corners when it comes to spaciousness. Our own William Clavey drove the 2025 Chevrolet Suburban recently and came to this conclusion:
One of the main reasons American consumers love their Tahoes and Suburbans is due to the amount of cargo space they offer while still allowing them to carry the family. For 2025, their numbers remain unchanged and unchallenged. For reference, a Tahoe offers more total cargo space (all seats lowered flat) than a Ford Expedition (104.6 cu-ft) and a Jeep Wagoneer (116.7 cu-ft). Even the almighty Expedition Max and Grand Wagoneer are no match for the Suburban’s class-leading cargo space.

Lexus TX
Best Interior Feature: Cabin Quietness
The 2026 Lexus TX is the first luxury SUV on our list, and you can tell as its base trim NuLuxe-trimmed seating looks and feels quite nice. The Premium trim adds power-folding third-row seats, a panoramic glass roof, and the optional heated and ventilated second-row captain’s chairs.
If that isn’t enough, the next level for the Lexus TX is the Luxury trim, which comes with semi-aniline leather-trimmed seats and heated second-row outboard seats, and thematic ambient illumination standard. The top-of-line trim is the Lexus TX 550h+, a plug-in hybrid, which comes standard with the heated and ventilated second-row captain’s chairs, a 6.6-kW onboard charger, and the stunning Mark Levinson 21-speaker PurePlay Surround Sound system. Our own Chris Chin had a go with the TX 500h F-Sport model just last year, and these were his thoughts:
Both interior design and comfort have always been major selling points for Lexus. The story is no different with the TX 500h, with its high-quality choice of materials and solid fit and finish. Like other Lexus models, it’s as quiet as a library with virtually nonexistent noise, vibration, harshness levels. And the seats are clearly designed to keep you stress-free whenever tackling any amount of pavement.

The Reliable Lexus SUV No One Talks About — Until Now
This Lexus SUV is starting to get the recognition it deserves.
Genesis GV80
Best Interior Feature: Interior Quality
The 2026 Genesis GV80 is a luxury SUV with good looks both inside and out, even in its most modest trims. Yet, it is the top trims, like the 3.5T Prestige Black AWD, that this Genesis SUV truly impresses with gorgeous Nappa leather seating with an exclusive quilting pattern and suede headliner. Heated and ventilated second-row captain’s chairs are standard.
Other features of the Genesis GV80 include four USB-C ports, a second-row 115-volt AC power outlet, and the sonorous Bang & Olufsen Premium audio system with Active Noise Control. Our own Lyndon Conrad Bell drove the less practical, but sportier GV80 3.5T e-SC AWD model and had this to say about the comfort of the Genesis SUV:
Quilted leather upholstery with contrasting piping and stitching, heated armrests, a fragrance diffuser, and plenty of leg and shoulder room at all four seating positions are among the amenities afforded GV80 Coupe buyers. It’s no exaggeration to say the GV80’s passenger compartment is—if not exactly Bentley-like—certainly Bentley-adjacent. The quality and aesthetic of Genesis’ interior accommodations are definitely a cut above the price asked.

Volvo XC90
Best Interior Feature: Bowers & Wilkins 19-Speaker System
The 2026 Volvo XC90 is a refined Scandinavian SUV that boasts ride quality at every corner. Optional laminated side windows add additional quiet to the cabin, and the Lounge Package gives the front seats a ten-point massage function. Frequency Selective Damping is standard, and an active air suspension is optional for the ultimate long-distance comfort.
Other standard features include front and second-row heated seats and a panoramic roof, but a common gripe is that the third row is a little tighter than you’d hope for adult sizes. Our own William Clavey had this to say about the Volvo XC90’s cabin during his recent review:
It’s incredibly well executed, preserving the minimalist look and feel of Scandinavian design. My example was dressed up in welcoming wood trim and quilted sand-colored leather. Every surface feels rich and expensive. Even the Bowers & Wilkins speaker grills and central tweeter were massaged. They look and feel like something straight out of a boutique audio retailer. The build quality is superb, showing that Volvo’s still got it. Doors close shut with a satisfying clunk, and once cocooned inside, the XC90 is vault quiet.

BMW X7
Best Interior Feature: Front Massage Seats
The 2026 BMW X7 is the brand’s flagship luxury SUV that is built for both speed and opulence. Step inside, and you will find carbon fiber trim and merino leather dazzled by ambient lighting, accompanied by heated second-row captain’s chairs. The front cabin gets the most niceties as the seats provide massage functionality along with heated and cooled cupholders.
While certainly not quite as spacious for passengers as some of its rivals, the BMW X7 does still offer an impressive max cargo space of 90.4 cubic feet. Our own Lyndon Conrad Bell drove the 2025 BMW X7 M60i in a recent review, and this is what he had to say about the cabin:
With three rows of seats, the X7 is capable of seating up to seven people. That said, accessing the third row requires one to have the agility of a member of a Zhengzhou acrobat. You’ll also need patience, as it takes those captains’ chairs a bit of time to slide forward to provide access. All in all, it’s probably best to keep the third row folded away to improve cargo capacity—or restrict its occupancy to young children.
Happily, though, that’s the only legitimate gripe one could lodge against the X7’s accommodations. Ingress and egress to and from the four main seating positions are easy. Comfort in each of those seats is first-rate, too. They are also suitably bolstered for proper support when the X7’s athleticism is given center stage.

The Luxury SUV That’s Now Cheaper Than A New Tacoma
This lightly used 2019 BMW SUV can deliver flagship luxury for less than the price of a new Tacoma.
Mercedes-Benz GLS
Best Interior Feature: Second-Row Massage Seats
Mercedes’ priciest SUV that isn’t a Maybach or a G-Class is the 2026 Mercedes GLS, and luxury is brimming at every corner of this German SUV. The 64-color LED ambient lighting sets the mood while the heated and ventilated front seats with optional massage functionality keep you comfy. The power rear seating allows full adjustment and easy access to the third row. Compared to the Volvo XC90, the Mercedes GLS offers almost five inches of additional legroom in the third row, making it much more comfortable for adults during long trips.
If you opt for the Mercedes GLS 580 model, five different individual climate control zones allow for personalized comfort. The GLS 580 offers the Executive Rear Seat Package that takes luxury comfort to a new level. With it, you get heated and ventilated second-row seats that have a massage feature, including a “hot stone” mode that provides heat and massage together. That’s just the start of what you can get in a Mercedes GLS with additional ultra-premium options like the Rear Seat Entertainment Package and Burmester High-End 3D Surround Sound system. If that’s not passenger comfort, we don’t know what is.
