We are always in awe of the most powerful and exquisite motorcycles from brands. It is, however, the most affordable and sometimes barebone offerings that are more important. Why, you ask? Well, these act as stepping stones for anyone wanting to experience a motorcycle maker’s legacy. Basically, the most beginner-friendly motorcycle from a brand makes or breaks a long-term relationship.
Indian Motorcycle‘s choice of weapon to woo new riders is a very interesting one. It has the smallest V-twin in the lineup but is not shy about power. The ergonomics and rider triangle are beginner-friendly despite having a low-slung and stretched-out design. And then there’s the sea of accessories that we even took some time to read through. We delve deeper into understanding how the Scout Sixty Bobber stitches together old-school charm and beginner-friendly properties to impress first-time buyers.

A First-Time Buyer Will Love The 2025 Indian Scout Sixty Bobber’s Accessible Outlook
Old-School Bobber Styling And A Low Seat Height
Not only is the Indian Scout Sixty Bobber cool-looking, but it is also quite accessible. You don’t quite find both these qualities together. Staying true to its “Bobber” nameplate is a minimal single-seater setup, bobbed fenders at both ends, and chunky tires wrapped around 16-inch five-spoke wheels. Sure, this factory bobber looks like something that only an experienced rider can maneuver about. But that’s not the case.
Its seat height of 25.6 inches should make it really accessible for new riders. In fact, it has the same seat height as the lowest-seated Harley-Davidson today. Plus, the Scout Sixty Bobber is designed to be an urban runabout, evident from its rider triangle. The rider sits with the feet forward while the hands are placed slightly forward. The narrow handlebar is designed to help maneuver this low-slung bobber through traffic. Despite its lazy rake and longer trail, Indian has managed to pack this Scout’s “grounded” design into an easily manageable package with compact dimensions.

10 Indian Bikes That Match Up To Harley-Davidson Today
Indian and Harley-Davidson repeatedly lock horns and these bikes are probably the biggest examples of the rivalry
Other Reasons Why The Indian Scout Sixty Bobber Is A Perfect Beginner Bike
Affordable, Tractable, And Lots And Lots Of Accessories
The new Scout Bobber Sixty is cleverly designed to help a new rider experience classic American motorcycling charm without the hassle of managing a big twin. It sounds contradictory because the V-twin is the heart of a true American cruiser bike. But Indian has managed to shrink that package to a level that can be approached and enjoyed to the fullest by beginner riders. Here are the major reasons the Scout Sixty Bobber is a perfect beginner cruiser bike.
The Most Affordable Indian Motorcycle In 2025
This is the most affordable American-made V-Twin cruiser bike you can buy today. Starting at just $9,999, the Scout Sixty Bobber sure is a value-for-money proposition. Despite its impressive price cut for 2025, even the most affordable Harley-Davidson cruiser is still more expensive than this bobber. This affordable price tag is possible because of the Sixty’s barebone nature. Not just in design but also in terms of features (we will get to that in a bit).
A Tractable 999cc V-Twin
We wouldn’t have paid heed if the engine was a carryover from the 2024 model. But Indian impresses us by evolving its smallest V-twin engine with a slew of notable upgrades in 2025. Its Speedplus 999 engine is technically a toned-down version of the bigger Speedplus 1250 on the 2025 Scout Bobber. The difference between the Scout Bobber’s 1250cc engine and the Sixty’s 999cc engine largely lies in its bore size, compression ratio, and gearbox.
The 2025 Scout Sixty Bobber’s power increases from 78 to 85 horses compared to the 2024 model. However, torque remains unchanged, and so does the engine’s tractability, with a linear and flat torque curve. Peak torque now arrives at 6,500 RPM, unlike last year’s 5,800 RPM. This broadens the curve further, making new riders less surprised by this bobber’s acceleration.

A Relatively Lightweight Cruiser Bike
A curb weight of 536 pounds is by no means “light.” But by cruiser bike standards, the Scout Sixty Bobber does a very good job. This is given the fact that the Indian entry-level cruiser bike has sturdy underpinnings and a fairly large fuel tank of 3.4 gallons. Its hardware setup helps the Scout Sixty Bobber maneuver with conviction.
The tubular steel frame cradles the V-twin and is suspended by chunky-looking 41 mm forks up front and adjustable dual shocks at the rear. The Sixty does, however, sacrifice plushness with just 2 inches of suspension travel at the rear. Braking duties are taken care of by single semi-floating discs at both ends. Finally, the 16-inch wheels are wrapped with grippy Pirelli Night Dragon tires.

Minimum Technology Intrusion
Indian offers riders a choice of going barebone or packing just the necessary technology features with the 2025 Scout Sixty Bobber. Few know this, but the base trim, ‘Standard,’ which starts from $9,999, is barebone in technology features. Standard technology features on the 2025 Indian Scout Sixty Bobber Standard include:
- 4-inch Analog Dial With a Multifunctional LCD
- LED lighting all-around
- Standard ABS
So, how is the more-stacked 2025 Indian Scout Sixty Bobber Limited trim different from the Standard one? For starters, it’s more expensive, starting at $12,199. The four satin color options mentioned earlier are only available on the Limited. It also flaunts an exclusive “999cc” engine and “Limited” frame badging. Most of the impactful differences lie in its technology suite, though. The Limited trim adds cruise control, traction control, and three ride modes (Sport, Standard, Rain). It also has a USB charging port.

Indian Scout Sixty Bobber’s Arch-Rival Is The Most Affordable Harley-Davidson
The Scout Sixty Bobber’s nemesis is also an equally capable beginner-friendly cruiser bike from Harley. In fact, the Nighster is our choice of the most affordable Harley-Davidson perfect for a first-time buyer. So, this face-off is intense. The Nightster has an edge in performance with more power, torque, extra gear, and less weight. But there’s a catch.
The Harley gets a little too intense, sways away from offering an “authentic cruiser bike” experience, and becomes more of a “roadster.” Indian, however, manages power, character, and design to offer old-school-vibing badassery but in an urban-friendly package. The Bobber also has a bigger fuel tank and, despite having a longer wheelbase, is shorter than the Harley. To top it all off, the Scout Sixty Bobber is more affordable. Pick your poison!
