Mercedes-Benz has previewed the second model in its ultra-exclusive Mythos Series, releasing images of a camouflaged vehicle – which could be V8-powered – based on the CLE coupe.

The latest images show a camouflaged version of what the automaker calls an “extreme new model” for the Mythos Series, testing in wintry conditions in Sweden.

While further details are yet to be officially announced, Mercedes-Benz says the vehicle is “bearing a close resemblance to the popular CLE”.

Timing for the new Mythos Series model hasn’t been shared, nor have details such as pricing, equipment levels or its powertrain, with the automaker’s media statement simply saying it’s “on the horizon”.

The imposing coupe teased runs a low-to-the-ground stance, with more aggressive front and rear bumpers, a rear diffuser and a prominent rear wing.

A roll cage is clearly visible inside the test car, while the large trapezoidal exhaust outlets again further support reports it will be powered by a version of Mercedes-AMG’s 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine.

While not officially confirmed, the new CLE63 is expected to be unveiled later this year, ahead of Australian showroom arrivals in 2027.

Significantly, it’s also anticipated to mark the introduction of V8 power to the CLE, after the automaker declared in early 2025 it was developing “a next-generation, high-tech electrified V8”.
