Somehow, they have managed this, whilst keeping the Corvette comparatively affordable when compared to similar performing sports cars.

For years, Porsche has been viewed as one of the kings of off-the-line speed with the AWD Turbo S models, and has been hailed as one of the best handling road-going cars with the mechanically gifted 2026 Porsche 911 GT3 RS. Due to a blend of bleeding-edge technology and outright physical grip, the company seems to be as on top of the game as ever for posting insane lap times on some of the world’s most famous tracks and dominating quarter-mile drag races. With the ZTK Performance Package applied, 1,200 pounds of downforce is produced at its top speed, and the flow-through hood creates a high-pressure area, which pushes the front tires hard onto the ground. With Magnetorheological dampers (as beautifully simple as they sound), the ZR1’s suspension can change thickness and adapt 1,000 times per second, able to soak up harsh bumps and corners completely flat.

A similar sort of magic happened again, this time at Road America, where the ZR1 clocked in a lap time of 2:08.6 seconds, which was a frankly ludicrous five seconds faster than the Porsche 911 GT3 RS track weapon. In its reign of terror, not only did it beat Porsche, but it also managed to outpace the $1.2 million McLaren Senna track-demon at Virginia International Raceway. This was all achieved from a car that costs $175,000, a $100,000 saving on the 2026 911 Turbo S.

Pushing The Corvette Even Further, The ZR1X

Whilst the core engine is still the same, it now adds hybrid power in the form of electric motors powering the front wheels, adding an extra 186 horsepower and 145 pound-feet of torque.
