We’re still waiting for word on who will be the next James Bond, aka Agent 007, but that hasn’t stopped the Chinese automotive industry from pumping out another 007.

No, it’s not a suave secret agent, but rather a large electric liftback that’s now available to order in New Zealand, ahead of first dealership arrivals in February 2026.

The Dongfeng 007 entered production in China back in 2024 and it’s now bound for our neighbours across the ditch, where the Chinese brand is distributed by Armstrong’s Distribution Limited.

The independent distributor also exclusively handles Citroen, Opel, Peugeot and Smart in New Zealand, and launched the Dongfeng brand late last year. The Chinese automaker has yet to announce plans for the Australian market.

The Dongfeng 007 is completely unrelated to an almost identically sized electric sedan bearing the same name: the Zeekr 007. Zeekr is owned by Geely, while the Dongfeng Motor Corporation is a separate, state-owned automaker.

The Dongfeng 007 is known as the Dongfeng eπ 007 in China (pronounced ‘e pi’, in case you were wondering).

It measures 4880mm long, 1895mm wide and 1460mm tall on a 2915mm wheelbase, making it 40mm shorter, 55mm wider and 15mm taller than a Toyota Camry on a 90mm longer wheelbase.

Riding on MacPherson strut front and multi-link rear suspension, the 007 will be offered in New Zealand with a 70.26kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery supporting 200kW DC fast-charging, and a choice of two powertrains.
