Show Geared For Mainstream Now
The 2026 Detroit Auto Show wraps up Sunday, Jan. 25, and this year’s event reflects several years of pivoting from an international expo with expensive cars from around the world to one that is really focused on mainstream shoppers in metro Detroit who might be ready to pull the trigger on a new set of wheels.
Doing Without Luxury Brands
True, the Toyota Corollas and Honda Civics have been on the Detroit show floor for decades, but it was hard to look at them seriously when the new BMW M3 was just across the way, or the redesigned Audi A8. Without the foreign luxury brands in Detroit, the show floor is all about the mainstream.
