There was a time when Harley-Davidson used to have several full-dresser touring bikes. Then, in recent years, the bikemaker somewhat neglected the segment, as it focused on overhauling its bagger range. Now, in 2026, we’re happy to report H-D is going back to its roots by bringing a new lineup of several full-dresser bikes. These range from regular Grand American Touring bikes to full-fledged CVOs in both two-wheel and three-wheel options. Unsurprisingly, the most comfortable Harley for long road trips also comes from this lineup. Let’s jump in.

The CVO Street Glide Special Is The Most Comfortable Harley For Long Road Trips In 2026

There’s no denying full-dresser bikes offer the most comfort for long road trips. This helped narrow down our research, and our pick here is the new-for-2026 CVO Street Glide Special. Why, you ask? Because it is the boldest, baddest, and comfiest Harley-Davidson full-dresser right now.

Right from the flagship VVT engine and new Tour-Pak luggage to the cutting-edge electronics and massive seats, the touring bike promises a larger-than-life experience in every sense. That also applies to the price, though. The base price is set at a whopping $51,999, and it rises by $4,500 if you want the Citrus Orange color with its blacked-out mechanicals.

If that is too much, then the next thing is the non-CVO model. The standard Street Glide Special dials down the swagger in comparison to its CVO namesake with regular suspension while also featuring the smaller Milwaukee-Eight 117 engine. You still get the Tour-Pak topbox setup, and the overall dimensions are comparable as well. All that means you pay a whole lot less, as the base price is $32,999.

We’d also like to give a shoutout to the CVO Street Glide 3 Limited. It has everything the CVO Street Glide Special gets you, but with the added convenience of twin rear wheels. So it’s a great bike for veterans who don’t want the hassle of balancing a heavyweight. You also get a singular trunk at the rear here under the Tour Pak, instead of two saddlebags. All that convenience isn’t cheap, however, thanks to its sky-high $54,999 base price.

Comfortable Heated Seats Make The CVO Street Glide Special Perfect For Long Hauls

Diving deeper, it’s only fair we start with the comfort on offer on the flagship CVO. You and your significant other both get massive seats. Sculpted padding, refined stitching, and improved ergonomics are all present, along with a heating function. Additionally, there’s a removable back rest for the rider, while the pillion rests on the cushioned Tour Pak top box. When in the perch, you’ll also appreciate the new grips, floorboards, and the smoked windshield. A heel shifter is present for further convenience.

Then there’s the luxurious cockpit. Harley’s massive 12.3-inch TFT takes the centerstage here, allowing you access to Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, several viewing modes, and a handful of electronic aids (more on this later). A closer look also reveals small storage spaces and a premium set of Rockford Fosgate Stage II speakers. The latter comprises two speakers in the top fairing, two in the fairing lowers, and two at the rear (all 6.5-inch units). Other nitty-gritty but important inclusions are:

  • Heated grips
  • Auxiliary LED lights
  • All-LED lighting
  • Fairing lowers
  • Cruise control
  • Two saddlebags and one top box for storage (4.8 cubic feet)
  • Tire pressure monitoring system
  • Cubby storage with USB port

The CVO Street Glide Special Has Premium Underpinnings From Reputed Brands

Sitting in comfort is nothing if the ride quality isn’t pliant. So Harley-Davidson has made sure you get premium equipment here. Harley’s Grand American Touring frame sits at the center, suspended on beefy 48 mm USD forks and dual rear shocks. Both suspensions come from Showa but only the rear offers adjustability.

This joins hands with 19/18-inch alloy wheels, where the front houses dual discs and the rear has a single disc. That’s the usual combination of brakes, but just remember that the CVO weighs a whopping 919 pounds in running order. In case you’re curious, this number is 81 pounds higher than the non-Special CVO Street Glide.

You Can Forget About Tight Maneuvers On This Harley

Like the weight, all other dimensions are larger-than-life here. The length is over 103 inches, the width is over 40 inches, and the wheelbase is 64 inches. All that means this is a land yacht which should be a pain to maneuver in tight spaces. There’s no reverse gear for extra convenience like the Gold Wing, either. What will comfort you is the low 26.4-inch seat height, which means flat-footing should be quite easy.

The Mighty Milwaukee-Eight 121 Engine Powers The CVO Street Glide Special

Last but not least, there’s the engine. Being a flagship Harley, you get the flagship Milwaukee-Eight 121 engine here. It has liquid and air cooling, along with variable valve timing and a spicy 11.4:1 compression ratio. These enable an output of 115 horsepower and 139 pound-feet, where the latter comes in at just 3,000 RPM. All the oomph reaches the wheel via a six-speed transmission while enabling an efficiency figure of 45 miles per gallon.

Remember the electronic aids we mentioned earlier? Well, you get cornering-enhanced traction control, cornering ABS, cornering-enhanced drag-torque slip control, and vehicle hold control as standard here. This is in addition to Road, Rain, Sport, and two Custom ride modes to make the bike more usable across conditions.
