BMW and the M badge. Mercedes-Benz and AMG. Certain luxury marque associations represent the marriage between poshness and performance. Cadillac has one, too, and it’s none other than the V-Series cars. It started with the relatively understated Cadillac CTS-V sedan, essentially a Chevrolet Corvette in a dinner jacket. Now, over two decades later, Cadillac is still at it with the devilishly powerful, deceptively athletic Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing.

While the CT5-V Blackwing doesn’t share its supercharged heart with a Corvette anymore, the Caddy’s luxury performance car attitude hasn’t disappeared over the years. If anything, the latest variants of the volcanic V-series sedan continue to add refinement to the CTS-V’s blueprint for tire-roasting antics. Better yet, as part of the 2026 model year, buyers can option the Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing with a Precision package. It’s no dress-up option, though. It’s an all-business host of performance tweaks that take the already sharp and sporting luxury sedan to new corner-hugging, apex-clipping heights.

Cadillac debuted the blisteringly fast CT5-V Blackwing and its smaller sibling, the CT4-V Blackwing, back in 2021 for the 2022 model year. It served to fill the gap left behind by the third-generation CTS-V. Cadillac and General Motors discontinued the CTS-V following the 2019 model year, leaving the brand without a supercharged super-sedan. Fortunately, Caddy fans didn’t have to wait long. Cadillac rolled out a rightful heir to the CTS-V’s throne: the 200-mph, 668-horsepower CT5-V Blackwing.

If the CT5-V Blackwing’s shouty V8 wasn’t enough, the CT5-V Blackwing packs MagneRide dampers as standard, launch control, an electronic limited-slip differential, a tire-smoking line lock facility, and Cadillac’s Performance Traction Management stability-control system. For the row-your-own driving enthusiasts, the Blackwing can be had with a six-speed manual transmission. And all of that is wrapped up in leather upholstery, massaging seats, and sufficient space for the whole family. Happy days.

Precision Package For Razor-Sharp Track Days

For 2026, the Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing loses the “Le Monstre” edition, an homage to the wild-looking 1951 Cadillac Series 61 Le Mans entrant. That doesn’t mean the Blackwing loses its circuit chops. Far from it. Even without the addition of a special package, the CT5-V Blackwing is already a capable companion on the track. That said, Cadillac offers a Precision package for the post-facelift 2025 and 2026 CT5-V Blackwing models. And, you guessed it, it aims to make things more precise.

The “LT4” supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 is an absolute monster. It gives the rear-wheel-drive CT5-V Blackwing a furious acceleration that I honestly haven’t experienced much of in any other performance car… You don’t drive the Blackwing so much as you hold on for dear life.

Taking go-fast parts from the now-discontinued Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE, General Motors engineers made the Blackwing stiffer, wider, and grippier. The package makes spring rates significantly stiffer, and adds a larger front stabilizer bar, revised suspension bushings, new front steering knuckles, new rear suspension toe links, and a carbon ceramic brake setup. Add recalibrated MagneRide dampers and a retooled electronic limited-slip differential, and the Precision package-equipped CT5-V Blackwing becomes that much more of a track star garbed in a luxe Cadillac look.

Regardless of trim, every CT5-V Blackwing gets the same angry-beating heart. But don’t let the lack of diversity in engine options make you think that the Blackwing is lacking. It’s a supercharged 6.2-liter LT4 V8. At peak outputs, Cadillac claims the V8-powered Blackwing will produce 668 horsepower and 659 pound-feet of torque. While it’s not the most potent production supercharged V8 General Motors has ever put in a car, it’s not far off.

The title of the most unhinged supercharged mill belongs to the C7-generation Corvette, specifically the range-topping 2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 and its LT5 V8. That supercharged 6.2-liter engine was good for a monstrous 755 horsepower. That said, LT4 is more than enough to motivate the CT5-V Blackwing in a hurry. In testing, the six-speed-manual-equipped V8 Blackwing managed a sprint to 60 mph in just 3.6 seconds. That’s a mere 0.1 seconds behind the quick-shifting 10-speed automatic model. For those owners with a Bonneville top speed run in mind, the CT5-V Blackwing will keep climbing up to around 205 mph. It’s quite simply one of the fastest sedans in the world.

Space For The Whole Family

Cadillac V-Series sedans have shared engine options with the Chevrolet Corvette. Unlike the two-door, two-seat Corvette, the Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing is a much more everyday-usable package. There’s seating for up to five, with ample rear seat room for adults. That’s something you simply won’t find in a Chevrolet Corvette of any generation. At 11.9 cubic feet, trunk space isn’t quite up to station wagon standards, but it’s more than enough for a weekend away or spur-of-the-moment road trip. The rear seats also fold, allowing storage for longer or bulkier items. On the other hand, the Audi RS7 and BMW M5 boast a much larger 25 and 17 cubic feet of cargo capacity, respectively.

Six Figures And Pricey Options

Like any of the Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing’s closest competition in the segment, you’ll have to pay to play. The 2026 model starts at $102,795, roughly $3,600 more than the previous model year. Still, that’s more affordable than many of the Caddy’s closest rivals. For instance, the hulking 2026 BMW M5 starts at $125,175. However, adding options to the CT5-V Blackwing can quickly bloat the luxury sedan’s price tag. Those fans who want the best track-ready version, for example, will have to opt for the Precision package. Of course, this package doesn’t come cheap at $18,000.

Perhaps the biggest development in the world of the CT5-V Blackwing for 2026 is the “Curated by Cadillac” option. Inspired (and affluent) buyers can opt for the Curated by Cadillac treatment through Cadillac’s Artisan Center, which involves a unique customer-commissioned Blackwing. Those few custom Caddys are assembled and painted by hand via the Artisan Center. As you might imagine, though, they don’t come cheap. A CT5-V Blackwing Curated by Cadillac will start at $158,000, though specific options can raise that number. Can you put a price on having the most unique car in the neighborhood? Cadillac sure thinks you can.

So, Should You Buy One?

Cadillac did more than stuff a supernatural V8 under the hood of a luxury sedan and call it a day. The CT5-V Blackwing is pinch-yourself, I-can’t-believe-it proof that a five-seat, four-door sedan can carve circuits with the likes of much smaller, lighter cars. Moreover, the CT5-V Blackwing and CT4-V Blackwing may very well be out of production next year, meaning it’s likely your last chance to get your hands on a special chapter of GM performance sedans. Of course, for buyers who can afford it (and want the best track-day tool), the Precision package makes the CT5-V Blackwing inconceivably agile.
