The adventure bike segment has ballooned almost to comical proportions, as have the full-size ADVs. Nobody is picking up one of these behemoths if they tip over. And being designed to go into the rough stuff, you know that they’re going to kiss the dirt at some point. But on tarmac, that same size makes for a very comfortable motorcycle that eats up distances on rough roads like no other.
Like with any other motorcycle, there are the default choices. That leaves a lot more in their shadow, and it’s a shame, because these are good products that don’t get considered for one reason or another. It is usually that the brand isn’t well-known, or the product isn’t. We’re going to talk about the overlooked adventure bike that balances comfort, power, and price, but uniquely, it is not overlooked because it is an unknown brand or an unknown product.
The MV Agusta Enduro Veloce Is The Overlooked Adventure Bike That Balances Comfort, Power, And Price
MV Agusta is known for its two-wheeled works of art that mostly lie firmly in the naked bike and sport bike segments, but it has decided to expand into a new segment lately. The Enduro Veloce was shown to the world in 2024, and it has been on sale since. It is MV’s first foray into the segment, and that is why expectations – and pricing – are tempered. It still offers everything you’d expect from the brand, including exclusivity, great looks and quality, and great performance.
MV Agusta Enduro Veloce Price: $16,998
This is possibly the most surprising thing about the Enduro Veloce. It is priced around the same as a premium midsize adventure bike. Sure, they might have lower base prices, but load them up with options and they’ll quickly surpass the Enduro Veloce’s price. The priciest European ones are dearer than the Enduro Veloce, so we’re going to say something that you won’t hear often: this MV Agusta sounds like a bit of a bargain!
MV Agusta Enduro Veloce Engine: Triple The Fun
MV Agusta, like Triumph, is quite well-known for its three-cylinder engines, especially its midsize offerings. The Enduro Veloce is powered by a 931 cc inline three cylinder engine that generates 124 horsepower at 10,000 RPM and 75.2 pound-feet at a relatively low 7,000 RPM. It runs a really high 13.4:1 compression ratio.
So even though it is an adventure bike, you cannot get too adventurous with the kind of fuel you feed it. This is an old school screamer that sounds like an inline six (or a V12!), so it prioritizes power over torque. MV claims that you can get to 62 miles an hour in just 3.72 seconds and on to an unrestricted top speed of over 137 miles per hour!
It has all the electronic assistance you’d expect from a premium Italian brand, supported by a six-axis IMU and by-wire throttle. There are four maps for the torque control, eight levels of traction control, and both of these functions have a cornering function. A two-way quickshifter is standard, but MV’s semi-automatic gearbox isn’t yet available on the Enduro Veloce.
High-Quality Suspension Is Standard
A steel twin-beam frame underpins everything, while a bolt-on steel subframe helps carry rider, pillion, and luggage. The front inverted fork provides adjustment for rebound and compression damping, and preload adjustment. Whereas, the progressive link-type rear shock offers adjustable rebound and compression damping, and the preload adjustment is tool-free. Both come from Sachs.
Elsewhere, the Enduro Veloce uses a 21/18-inch spoke tubeless aluminum wheel set from Excel. The brakes are provided by Brembo and have very impressive specs. The twin floating 320 mm front discs are paired with Stylema radial four-piston fixed calipers, while the rear 265 mm brake disc has a two-piston fixed Brembo caliper.
MV Agusta Enduro Veloce Dimensions
This is a full-size motorcycle at nearly 93 inches long and with a 63.4-inch wheelbase. That shows up in the curb weight figure as well of 518 pounds wet. The seat is quite high, at nearly 33.5 inches, but there is decent ground clearance of just over 9 inches. The fuel tank can hold just under 5.3 gallons.
MV Agusta Enduro Veloce Features
As befits a premium product, the Enduro Veloce offers a lot of features. They include a 7-inch TFT display with Bluetooth and navigation, although it misses out on Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Cruise control and launch control are available, as are a center stand, a GPS sensor, and connected services like geolocation and anti-theft. The MV Ride app can also be used to configure the motorcycle’s various parameters if you don’t like going through the menus using the navigation buttons on the handlebars.
MV Agusta Enduro Veloce Competition
This is a tricky one, because we’re looking at overlooked bikes. If we were allowed to pick from everything available, there would be so many choices because this is a middleweight engine and a full-size chassis. That means premium middleweights like the Ducati DesertX ($18,995), KTM 890 Adventure R ($16,299), Husqvarna Norden 901 ($15,349), Triumph Tiger 900 Rally Pro ($17,595), and BMW F 900 GS ($14,395) all would have been under consideration. The full-size Honda Africa Twin ($14,799) would have also been a player. However, these are all well-known brands and models, and we must therefore discard them.
The Suzuki V-Strom 1050DE has a suboptimal combination of a lack of updates and a relatively high price of $16,449, which is why it is often overlooked. It remains the only full-size ADV with a twin-spar aluminum frame, and the only non-European V-twin option. It might make for a great tourer, but we will have to look to Europe for another tech-savvy but overlooked adventure bike. The Moto Guzzi Stelvio, especially the PFF Rider Assistance Solution variant, has all the tech and charm you’d want from a full-size adventure bike. It even has a single-sided swingarm at the price, but still manages to be overlooked a lot of the time.
