Jeep will reinvent its signature seven-slot grille with an upcoming facelift for the Avenger, its smallest and most affordable car.
Teaser images published by the brand showcase the integration of lights into the grille, forming a dotted line between the daytime running lights, in similar fashion to the new Compass.
Each slot in the grille is also now chunker and flush-faced, losing the surrounds of each piece on the current Avenger.
Stellantis design chief Ralph Gilles previously said the brief for the new Compass was to “make it more rugged, make it more bold, but at the same time detoxify”, and the updated Avenger looks to follow suit in bringing a chunkier, simpler look.
It remains to be seen how the Avenger will evolve inside, but it’s likely to follow the Compass here too, potentially gaining that car’s squared-off steering wheel and stouter switchgear.
The technical make-up is expected to remain broadly the same, however. The Avenger is currently offered as a 99bhp petrol with a six-speed manual gearbox; a 108bhp front-wheel-drive or 143bhp four-wheel-drive hybrid; and a 154bhp front-driven EV with a range of 249 miles.
The new look will mark the first major update since the Avenger was launched in 2023, with the distinction of being one of only a handful of Jeep models not offered in the US.
The Polish-made crossover won the European Car of the Year Award in 2023 and has since proven a success for Jeep, playing a key role in its return to growth in Europe.
