New to the Audi lineup for the 2025 model year, the Audi Q6 e-tron joins the marque’s electric SUV lineup as the larger of its two e-tron models currently on offer. Offered in both rear-drive and all-wheel-drive configurations, the Q6 with which I spent a week was the Quattro (all-wheel-drive) version, which offered 456 horsepower and an estimated 307-miles of range. Skipping the 2026 model year, and returning for ’27, the 2025 Q6’s base price was a quoted $65,800, and its price as tested came in at $76,790.

Audi Q6 e-tron Quattro Prestige First Impressions

One would be hard-pressed to determine the nature of the Q6’s propulsion system when viewing the handsome SUV in profile because Audi’s styling themes vary little from model to model. With that said, the lack of a traditional grille informs onlookers the Q6 e-tron Quattro is an EV from the front. Another clue can be found in the black trim piece spanning the front and rear doors from the side. Upon close inspection, you’ll see the e-tron Quattro nomenclature there. Additionally, the Q6 e-tron Quattro is monogrammed on its B-pillar. The absence of exhaust outlets reveals the Audi’s electrified nature to those traveling in the Q6’s wake.

The e-tron Quattro runs a pair of electric motors, one driving each set of wheels, to give it all-wheel drive. As mentioned above, the total system output is 456 horsepower. The Q6 also enjoys a total system torque output of 631 pound-feet.

According to my trusty Omega Speedmaster, the Q6 e-tron Quattro Prestige got to 60 from rest in just under five seconds. That’s quick enough to be considered swift, but with so many of its competitors capable of performing the same feat — if not bettering it — the Q6 doesn’t really stand out when measured against competitors such as the Cadillac Lyriq AWD or the Electrified Genesis GV70. It is exhilarating just the same though.

Audi’s product planners specified tuning the Q6’s suspension system for ride over handling. After all, those seeking electrified thrills can opt for the SQ6 e-tron Quattro, which offers 510 horsepower in its Boost mode. As a result, the Q6 e-tron Quattro rides comfortably, is remarkably compliant over surface irregularities, and respectably quiet at speed. Utterly composed in every circumstance, the Q6 will acquit itself competently when hustled along a twisty two-lane. However, it doesn’t encourage its driver to do so.

The Q6 e-tron Quattro also offers smart regeneration, which “decides” the degree of retardation to apply based on data it gets from its long-range radar and front camera. The Q6 also considers road-sign and navigation-system data for this purpose. As a result, one-pedal driving is exceptionally smooth. The system can also be set up for manual operation, in which it defaults to a pre-selected degree of retardation regardless of those inputs. You can also set it up to bring the Audi to a complete stop without using the brake pedal.

The Audi Q6 e-tron Quattro Prestige scored a 95 MPGe combined rating in EPA testing. This was derived from a 102 MPGe rating in the city and 89 on the highway. The Agency estimates the Q6’s driving range to be 295 miles on a full charge, saying the Audi consumes 35 kWh of electricity every 100 miles. The best I saw on a full charge of its 94.4-kWh battery pack was 265 miles. With its 800-volt architecture, the Q6 proved capable of going from 90 percent depleted to 90 percent charged in just over 35 minutes, using a 350-kW CCS EVgo fast charging station.

Interior Design And Comfort

Audi’s penchant for handsome interior treatments continues unabated with the Q6. Upholstered in Pearl Beige leather, the Q6 Prestige’s passenger compartment, which I experienced, was at once airy and luxurious. In all frankness, though, I could have done without the Piano Black accents. Given how readily it shows fingerprints, it must have been prescribed by the FBI.

Though ergonomically sound, the Q6’s interior treatment is festooned with an abundance of controls. While logically arranged, the sheer volume of them might be a bit overwhelming for some. On the other hand, material choices are both attractive and sustainable.

Reasonably spacious, the Q6 accommodates four in comfort. The multi-adjustable driver’s seat, in concert with the articulation afforded by the steering wheel, makes finding a comfortable driving position easy to do. Leg, shoulder, and hip room are adequate — if not exactly expansive — for rear seat passengers. Ingress and egress are easily accomplished. Outward visibility is obstruction-free.

Technology And Ease Of Use

Holy Mother of Megabytes, this Audi has a lot of digital going on. In addition to the graceful arc that starts behind the steering wheel and goes on to crown the center console, a secondary screen positioned in front of the passenger seat offers infotainment control and data as well. That monitor is also capable of displaying streaming video, which is blocked from the driver when the Q6 is in motion.

Additional tech features include traffic sign recognition, an augmented reality head-up display, and multi-adjustable daytime running lamp signatures. Headlight and taillight animations are also fitted. Smart cruise control, lane keeping assistance, and parking assistance are included, too.

The Q6 I drove also had the optional navigation system with augmented reality and an 830-watt Bang & Olufsen stereo system with 3D sound and speakers in the front headrests. Additional driver’s aids include automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection and a drowsiness monitor. While the volume of features is expansive, everything operates without forcing one to spend hours thumbing the owner’s manual.

The cargo compartment is generously sized, with split folding rear seats, capable of increasing its already significant proportions. There’s also a small cargo compartment located in the space the engine would occupy in a combustion-powered Audi. The usual array of door pocket cubbies, center console storage, and, of course, a glovebox are included.

Two of Audi’s most formidable competitors, in terms of price, are the Cadillac Lyriq AWD and the Genesis Electrified GV70. All three are closely priced and similarly equipped. Tuned more for comfort than sport, the three also exhibit comparable road manners. When it comes to output, the Cadillac stands out with 500 horsepower, and the Genesis offers 483. Audi trails the group with “only” 456. Pricewise, the Lyriq AWD comes out on top at a base price of $64,495. Pricing for the Genesis starts at $64,830, and the Audi starts at $65,800.

According to EPA estimates, the all-wheel drive version of the Lyriq is good for an estimated 307 miles on a fully charged battery pack. However, the Cadillac’s range is reported to be closer to 220 miles in real-world driving. The Lyriq is reported to charge to 80 percent of capacity from 90 percent depletion in roughly 35 minutes using a DC fast charging station. It also cruises quietly, offers good legroom all around, and has a handsome interior treatment. The Cadillac is also distinctively styled.

The Genesis Electrified GV70 outclasses both the Audi and the Cadillac on the opulence front. Its upscale interior design is at once contemporary and sumptuous. The Genesis is also reasonably spacious. Ride quality is quiet as well as comfortable. The Electrified GV70 also inspires confidence with its obedient responses to driver inputs. While the Genesis gives up 17 horsepower to the Cadillac, it’s quicker, offering sub-four-second runs to 60 from rest. When it comes to range, the EPA says you can expect up to 263 miles on a single charge with 19-inch wheels and 243 when you elect to go with 20s. This is exactly what I saw when I tested the GV70 last year.

All things being equal, you will get more for your money with the Genesis. However, the Cadillac is an outstanding value with its lower price and an equally generous array of luxurious accouterments. The Audi, while the newest offering among this triumvirate, is outclassed in terms of performance and style, particularly so when compared to the Electrified GV70.

What’s more, the Genesis warranty package, at five years or 60,000 miles for the basics, as well as 10 years or 100,000 miles for the powertrain, is exceptional. Plus, three years or 36,000 miles of maintenance are included in the price. Meanwhile, both the Audi and the Cadillac offer four years or 50,000 miles for the basics and eight years or 100,000 miles of coverage for the EV components. Cadillac will cover your first maintenance service, but Audi leaves you on your own for all service calls. Were I making this decision today, I’d go with the Genesis.
