As we inch closer to the launch of Skoda’s first-ever plug-in hybrid (PHEV) in Australia, the Czech manufacturer has now locked in pricing for the Kodiaq large SUV that will debut the technology locally.

Set to arrive in the first quarter of 2026, the Kodiaq Select PHEV will be the first Skoda PHEV sold in Australia, priced at $63,490 before on-road costs. Typically the base variant in the petrol Kodiaq lineup, the Select will be the only PHEV trim available at launch.

As was foretold by Skoda in October 2025, the Select PHEV slots in between the petrol Sportline and RS models in the Kodiaq range, although it’s cheaper than CarExpert predicted at the time by some $6000.

That price means it’s pitched squarely against the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV (from $57,290 before on-roads), though that model is due for an imminent upgrade with a local ride-and-handling tune. The Kodiaq is still much cheaper than the related Cupra Terramar VZe at $77,990 before on-roads.

The Skoda Superb PHEV is still expected to arrive alongside its Kodiaq counterpart, though no details have been released.

Powering the Kodiaq Select PHEV is a 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine mated with an 85kW/330Nm electric motor, for total peak outputs of 150kW of power and 350Nm of torque. This provides a claimed 0-100km/h time of 8.4 seconds.

The Kodiaq Select PHEV uses a 25.7kWh lithium-ion battery capable of charging at up to 11kW (AC) and 50kW (DC), with a combined fuel economy claim of 1.85L/100km. As with most other PHEVs, this figure is to be taken with a grain of salt.

Most impressive is the SUV’s electric-only range, which Skoda claims is 112km on the WLTP cycle. For context, Mitsubishi claims an electric driving range of 86km for the Outlander PHEV, but that’s on the more lenient NEDC protocol.

The Kodiaq PHEV will offer multiple drive modes, alongside a choice of low, high, and automatic regenerative braking levels. This is in addition to two power delivery modes – hybrid or electric – and two on-the-move charging modes: automatic, for engine-powered charging; and manual, for plug-in charging only.
