The Polestar 2 electric liftback has received a light refresh for 2026, bringing minor tech upgrades, a new battery, and slightly more driving range at the bottom of the lineup.

The base Polestar 2 ‘Standard range Single motor’ now features a slightly larger nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) lithium-ion battery sourced from Chinese manufacturer CATL, replacing an NMC unit from LG Chem. While driving range has increased by only 8km, fast charging speed has been increased from 135kW to 180kW.

All variants now feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, which is said to reduce loading times and improve input response times from the infotainment system.

At the top of the range is the ‘Long range Dual motor Performance’, which, in addition to its standard fitment of the otherwise optional Performance Pack, now also includes the optional Plus Pack. Its price has been increased accordingly, with Polestar noting that the change reflects customer preferences.

Otherwise, prices across the range have remained the same, while there’s a new sandy metallic finish called ‘Dune’ in place of the old ‘Jupiter’ colour. The static prices across most of the range follow price cuts of $5000 announced last September for 2025 vehicles.

Tinting is also available for the rear-side windows, while a new 20-inch forged alloy wheel design has been added to the Performance Pack. Inside, there’s a new ‘bio-attributed’ MicroTech quilted upholstery in Charcoal, while Black Ash inlays are available with the Plus Pack.

That option package once again includes a 13-speaker, 600W Harman Kardon sound system, which was missing for 2025. A new option is a 14-speaker, 1350W Bowers and Wilkins sound system, which costs $3500 and can only be ordered in conjunction with the Plus Pack.

Despite lower prices, the Chinese-owned Swedish brand delivered 746 Polestar 2s in Australia in 2025, down 48.9 per cent on 2024, despite Polestar Australia recording a 38.5 per cent year-on-year increase overall.

It was outsold by the Tesla Model 3 (6617), the BYD Seal (3784), and the BMW i4 (886), though it beat the Hyundai Ioniq 6 (200).

Pricing

Pricing is unchanged for three variants of the 2026 Polestar 2 lineup, while the top-spec Long range Dual motor Performance has increased by $4700 as the previously optional Plus Pack is now standard.
