Australian pricing and initial specifications for the new-generation 2026 Mazda CX-5 have been announced, and the all-new mid-size SUV range is now available to order ahead of its arrival in mid-2026.
More than 325,000 examples of the CX-5 have been sold in Australia since the nameplate’s debut over a decade ago – with more than five million sold worldwide – and the model has been the Japanese brand’s top-seller for the last seven years running. So, it’s obviously a very, very important product for Mazda.
For 2026, the new CX-5 lineup claims to go hard on value. While prices are technically up, specification levels are also up across the range, with petrol power and all-wheel drive standard across the range from launch.

The third-generation CX-5 has seen its variant naming aligned with the rest of the Mazda range, and five trim levels will be offered – as with the outgoing range.
Pricing starts from $39,990 plus on-road costs for the entry-level CX-5 Pure, a few thousand up on the outgoing CX-5 G20 Maxx’s $37,990 drive-away pricing offer, with the flagship Akera priced from $54,990 plus ORCs.
As previously confirmed, the 2026 Mazda CX-5 will launch with one powertrain – the ‘G25’ 2.5-litre four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine making 132kW of power and 242Nm of torque, driving all four wheels via a six-speed automatic as standard.
Despite increasing pressure from the federal government’s New Vehicle Efficiency Standard (NVES) designed to reduce CO2 emissions, the CX-5 G25 AWD quotes fuel use of 7.4L/100km on the combined cycle, with CO2 emissions rated at 173g/km. For reference, the 2026 cap for Type 1 passenger vehicles under the NVES is about 110g/km.
Mazda Australia has confirmed a new CX-5 Hybrid for launch sometime in 2027, which will debut the brand’s new ‘Skyactiv-Z’ petrol engine featuring a range of new technologies to optimise performance and efficiency.

While prices are up across the range, Mazda Australia says each variant adds several thousands of dollars in “significant value” compared to the equivalent version of the outgoing CX-5.
